Description

Ann Marie Dewar is a local creole poet, and retired teacher. Her first book, WHA MARMIE SAY, is a collection of poetry written totally in the Montserratian language, and highlights the importance of our local language to our national identity. The poems deal with themes such as politics, education, love, leisure, respect, life away from home, separation and loss, achievement and fear. This book makes a valuable contribution towards the appreciation of the Montserratian creole language, and the preservation of its form and structure. Miss Dewar is currently writing her second book, entitled “God’s Plans Were Better”.
