Howard A Fergus, educator and author wrote and published books widely for decades beginning in 1974. A student of Montserrat’s history, his works include history, politics, education, and literary criticism and he is an established poet with some 19 collections. Titles include: ‘Man Of The Match: Election Poems’, ‘Lockdown Poems’, ‘Montserrat, History of a Caribbean Colony’, ‘Celebration of St. Patrick’s Day In Montserrat: A History’, ‘Not Even Black and Other Poems’, and ‘Intriguing Story’.
A former UWI Professor of Eastern Caribbean Studies, Dr. Fergus has won awards for his work including the Vice Chancellor’s Award of Excellence, and he has served as Speaker of the Montserrat Parliament for over 20 years. His writings reflect his grassroots background and his rich experiences in public and civil life, and of course, his research as a scholar of society.
His final book, completed days before his passing, a collection of poems titled “Now the Day is Over” will be launched at PRIME 2023.
